Privacy Policy
Last updated November 5, 2026
This policy explains what information Edenfall collects when you use this website (www.edenfall.net), the forum (forum.edenfall.net), the Edenfall launcher and our games, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We collect only what we need to run these services. We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Who we are
Edenfall is an independent game studio, not yet a registered company. We run our own servers, and the forum, this website and our email are hosted on them. For anything about your information, email support@edenfall.net.
What we collect
Your forum account
When you sign up on the forum we keep your username, email address and password. The password is stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text. We also keep what you add to your profile, such as a profile picture and banner, the groups you're in, your posts, likes and other activity, and the IP address your posts were made from, which helps us deal with spam and abuse. Your username, profile, groups and posts are public. Your email address is not.
Signing in to this website and the launcher
This website and the launcher sign you in with your forum account. The forum tells them your member number, username, profile picture and groups, never your password or email address. We keep a record of each sign-in so you stay signed in, and we ask the forum for your current profile picture and rank so they stay up to date.
The launcher and our games
While you're signed in, the launcher saves your total playtime, number of play sessions, when you last played and the achievements you've earned, so they follow your account between computers. It also checks which builds your account can download. On your own computer the launcher keeps your sign-in, your settings, the game files and a copy of your profile picture.
Patreon
If you link your Patreon account, Patreon tells us your Patreon member ID, your name on Patreon, your membership status, your tier and when your next payment is due. We use this only to give you your tier's builds and forum group. We never see or store your payment details. Patreon's own privacy policy covers what Patreon collects.
Mods and the wiki
When you submit a mod we keep the files, screenshots and text you upload along with your username. Staff see your submission while it's in review, and everyone can see it once it's approved. We count mod downloads without recording who downloaded them. Wiki edits are saved with your username and kept in the page's public history.
Technical information
Like most websites, our servers see your IP address and browser details with every request and keep short-lived logs to keep the services running and secure. We use your IP address to work out which country you're in, using a copy of the DB-IP database on our own server, because the services are not available in some countries. We also keep IP addresses for up to a day to limit repeated sign-in attempts and uploads.
Cookies
We only use cookies that the services need to work:
- Age confirmation (of_age on this site, ef_age_verified on the forum) remembers that you confirmed you're 18 or over.
- Sign-in and session cookies (ef_login and the PHP session on this site, the Flarum session and remember-me cookies on the forum) keep you signed in and protect forms from forgery.
- Theme (ef_theme) remembers whether you picked light, dark or system, shared between this site and the forum.
Services we use
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're a person and not a bot on the age check and sign-up forms. Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser details to do this.
- Patreon, only if you choose to link your account.
We don't share your information with anyone else, except when the law requires it or to protect members and the services from serious harm, such as reporting child sexual exploitation to the authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. Sign-in records end after 30 days without use. Patreon details are deleted when you unlink. Server logs and rate-limit records are kept only for a short time. When you delete your account, your personal information is removed or anonymised. Posts that are part of public discussions may stay up without your name on them, and copies can remain in backups until they expire.
Your choices and rights
You can change your profile and email settings on the forum, unlink Patreon at any time on edenfall.net/patreon, and sign out of the launcher from its settings. You can also email support@edenfall.net to ask for a copy of your information, to have something corrected, or to have your account and information deleted. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your information, and we'll honour them.
Security
Connections to our services are encrypted, passwords are stored as secure hashes, and sign-in tokens are stored hashed on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
Adults only
The services are only for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will close it and delete their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. For significant changes we'll also post a notice on the forum or this site.
